„Ruling of old cases“ for refugees

PRO ASYL demands of Ministers of the Interior „anticipating rulings“
and protection from deportation for refugees living here for years
„Integration mustn’t mean that one is nevertheless deported“.

After the Conference of the Ministers of the Interior on her meeting at past Thursday couldn’t still agree on a humanitarian „ruling of old cases“ for refugees living in the Federal Republic for a long time , demands the Nation-wide Human Rights Organisation for Refugees PRO ASYL of the Ministers of the Interior of the Federal States, to guarantee by decrees of the regional States, that those refugees, who are eligible for a possible ruling of old cases , will have protection from deportation till then in any case.

“ Such an anticipating ruling- as practised by some Federal States at present – gives for the time being to refugees the necessary protection from deportation and contributes to avoid untenable hardnesses. A stay for years and the integration connected with it mustn’t mean, that one is nethertheless deported!“ said the spokesperson of PRO ASYL Heiko Kauffmann.

A generous and humanitarian ruling of old cases serves the social peace, relieves the administration of justice and would be under humanitarian and social points of view an important signal of integration policy

PRO ASYL reminds the integration promises of all political parties and calls upon the Ministers of the Interior to give these signals also to people living here for five years and longer, to end the quarrel on procedural matters and to offer finally to the individuals concerned a right of residence.
