The Nation-wide Human Rights Organisation for Refugees PRO ASYL appeals to the Ministers of the Interior of the Federation and the States at the Conference of the Ministers of the Interior on tomorrow’s Thursday in Bonn to decide a speedy and unbureaucratic implementation of a generous and extensive ruling of old cases.

„A generous and humanitarian ruling of old cases means to take the integration promise of all parties at word It serves the social peace, the relief of the administration of justice and would be under humanitarian and social points of view an important signal of integration policy „, said the spokesperson of PRO ASYL, Heiko Kauffmann.

A ruling of old cases excluding certain refugee groups (as Kosovo Albanians, Bosnians or Vietnameses) isn’t acceptable from the integration aspects mentioned.

The planned ruling must also give the persons affected a real chance, to earn their own living within a transition period , said the PRO ASYL-spokesperson.

Therefore PRO ASYL demands a generous humanitarian ruling of old cases

  • for all refugees living in Germany five years and longer
  • for unaccompanied minor refugees after a substantially shorter time
  • without exclusion of certain refugee groups,
  • which gives at the criterion „gainful employment“ applicants at least the chance, to start a gainful employment within a generously measured period
  • with fair exceptions at the requirement of earning one’s own living for example with
    – apprentices
    – single educating persons
    – disabled
    – families with children
  • under special consideration and benevolent examination with the following refugee groups:
    – families whose children are born here as well as families, whose children are at school here
    – elderly persons, who need the support of here living relatives or friends
    – refugees accepted by the Federal Office, while the Federal Commissioner launches an appeal against their recognition
    – refugees after a residence period of several years, as far as there are legal or practical obstacles precluding repatriation.
